General Guidelines for Proper Care of Devices

• • Keep food or drink away from Chromebooks.

  • Keep the keyboard clear of objects to prevent accidentally closing lid and damaging the screen from the object.

  • Be mindful of how you store the device.  

    • Any pressure or weight against the device can crack the screen and damage other components.  The screens are particularly sensitive to damage from excessive pressure.

    • Extreme temperatures will degrade the electronics and battery

  • Whether the device is in a backpack or carried by hand, always transport it with care.  Lifting the device by the screen or transporting the device with the screen open increases the likelihood of an accident.

• Position the device and charging cords such that it is not a tripping hazard

Cleaning Guidelines - Screen, Keyboard and Device Cleaning

• Only clean the screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth or anti-static cloth.  The IT Office has approved cleaning supplies if needed.
